TOOLS & MACHINERY SALE RESULTS

Our 19th December Tools & Machinery sale did well, with some items in the themed section fetching more than their retail prices!

Items for this sale were consigned by private vendors across the county, with many tools sourced from a deceased estate in Dalton-in-Furness, together with other estates in Barrow, Hawkshead and Lazonby. The sale attracted plenty of new room bidders for the tools and machinery section, providing the internet and the phone with plenty of competition!

Most valuable among the machinery was a TL Sedgwick table saw which sold after the sale for £900!

A jet wood turning lathe and box of accessories consigned from a deceased estate shot past its estimated £150-200 at £380!

From the same vendor, a Swedish Sjobergs woodwork bench wasn’t far behind. It captured the internet’s interest at £360, well above its £100-150 estimate!

The most wanted lot on the-saleroom.com didn’t disappoint. A box of Swiss-made carving chisels received plenty of pre-sale interest, with the room bidding against the internet. The internet won at £340!

A box of lathe chucks sold to the internet for £140, well above the estimated £50-100! Ten wood-turning chisels sold for £130 to the room, above the £50-80 estimate!

Consigned from a local vendor, a small Victorian pine bank of labelled drawers soared past its £70-100 estimate at £320!

The internet snapped up a small metal tool parts box for £120. A Stihl chainsaw also sold to the internet for £100.

A Scheppach Basato 3h vario electric band saw held the room’s attention. It breezed past its £60-80 estimate at £220!

The room fetched numerous lots healthy prices! A jet thickness planer sold for £140. An electric Tormet T3 sharpening wheel sold for £130. A Leigh super jig 240v sold for £120. A Jet electric bench disc sander sold for £120. A Scheppach oval sander sold for £120. A Jet Air filtration system sold for £100! Eleven wood turning chisels sold for £120, well above the £50-80 estimate! A set of sixteen carving chisels sold for £100.

An Airshield Pro Respirator plus one other helmet sold to a telephone bidder at £120!

Most valuable among the jewellery was a ladies 9ct gold Omega De Ville wristwatch, which sold to a commission bid at £360. A 9ct gold watch chain weighing 25.5 grams sold for £250 to a commission bidder. A selection of seven Victorian and later gold brooches, mostly gem set sold for £160 to the room.

Miscellaneous items did well. Four unframed local maps – Greenwood, Bleau & Cary did well, with competitive bidding from all platforms! The internet won out at £260! A Cyclotricity electric bike with some damage sold to the room for £180.

The internet won quite a few items in this section! A Nikon D3200 camera and flash units sold for £150. A Wainwright signed print ‘Catbells’ sold for £150. A box of Beatles ephemera sold for £140. Two Singer sewing machines sold for £130. A 1920s mahogany cased Chappell upright piano, no. 65143 sold for £180!

Most popular among the furniture was an Ercol ‘Giraffe’ room divider, which sold to the internet for £300! Consigned from a vendor in Alston, a pine glazed 16 drawer haberdashery cabinet sold to the internet for £260.

Oak was popular this time around. Consigned from a vendor in Hartsop, six Derbyshire oak chairs sold just above the £160-200 estimate to an online bidder for £220. A hall seat sold for £170 to the room.  A three-tier stacking bookcase sold to the internet for £150. A carved bookshelf with two drawers soared above its £70-100 estimate at £160 to a room bid. Consigned from a vendor in London, a large Edwardian bookcase with provenance reputedly from the British Library sold online for £120!

An Edwardian inlaid Davenport sold for £130 to a commission bidder. A vintage Hygena kitchenette from a vendor in Kirkby Stephen received plenty of pre-sale room interest, selling to a commission bid at £120. Two lots of six folding metal framed chairs did well, collectively selling for £230! Four Victorian re-upholstered dining chairs sold for £115.

Our first sale of 2019 is 9th January Autoparts & Vintage Vehicles. The Interiors & Clearance auction will follow immediately afterwards, carrying onto Thursday depending on the number of lots. We hope to see you then!
