Our sales process begins with a free, no obligation valuation where, using our knowledge and experience, we provide an accurate appraisal of your item. We are proud of the wide variety of items that we are able to sell and with over 25,000 lots sold annually at an average selling success rate of 90%, chances are we may have sold an item similar to yours. The next step is to match your item to the best auction in terms of its buying audience and marketing level. All items we sell are photographed, accurately catalogued and correctly marketed, with full internet bidding coverage. Furthermore we operate three distinct types of auction, our extremely popular and well attended Fortnightly Interiors auction for antiques and later decorative and household goods, our Collectors Carousel specialist theme fortnightly sales, together with our flagship Curated by PFK auctions, each of which have an interior design focus celebrating superb objects and are aimed at a connoisseur audience. We will advise of the most suitable auction for your goods and would be delighted to work on your behalf.

Unlike many auctioneers in the market who are only interested in handling more valuable items (‘cherry picking’), we are able to handle complete clearances, selling everything from Fine Art through to garage contents, tools and machinery. Our sales system allows to market all these different items successfully and to offer a complete service. We call it ‘total auctioneering’ and it’s a service you can rely on.

Our standard commission rate is 18% plus VAT (a total of 21.6%) – although for larger collections and higher value items, we may be able to negotiate preferential terms. Reserves are optional and can be placed on items in both our Fortnightly Interiors and Fine & Rare auctions.  The reserve price is agreed between the vendor and ourselves at a mutually acceptable level, although must never be higher than the low end of the estimate agreed. We can also apply a 10% “auctioneer’s discretion” beneath a reserve if so instructed. If no reserve is required, we will obtain the best possible sale price.


At PFK Auctioneers we do not make percentage charges for services such as photography and insurance.  Instead we charge a standard lot fee. This covers storage, insurance, cataloguing, photography and marketing.  These are charged at £2.00 +VAT for all our Auctions.


We work in an efficient way and hope to make the process of selling your item with PFK as easy as possible. As our vendor you can expect to receive a statement and a cheque for the balance after each sale, this being our default payment method (although BACS payments are also available). This is typically within two weeks for Fortnightly Interiors auctions, and three weeks for Fine & Rare Auctions.
